About the Councillor

Mike Spadafora is a lifelong resident of Hamilton's West Mountain and a proud graduate of St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Elementary School. Elected to represent Ward 14 in 2022, Mike considers it a privilege to serve the community where he was raised and now raises his own family.

Mike’s proudest role is being a husband to his wife, Joanna, and father to their three children, Ela Rose, Ava, and Michael Junior. His family is the driving force behind his commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more affordable Hamilton where families can thrive.

Before entering public office, Mike built a career in business development and entrepreneurship. As a Business Development Manager with PPG-Dulux, he worked with customers across Ontario, developing practical solutions and lasting relationships. Prior to that, he owned and operated a successful contracting company, giving him firsthand experience working with local trades, suppliers, businesses, and homeowners. Those experiences continue to shape his practical, results-oriented approach to municipal government.

Community service has always been at the heart of Mike’s work. A longtime volunteer in local sports, he served as General Manager of the Hamilton Huskies Hockey Club and President of the Hamilton Kilty B’s Junior Hockey Club. Since 2019, he has also been a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats TigerTown Council, supporting initiatives that strengthen community spirit and encourage youth participation in sport.

At City Hall, Mike has become a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, infrastructure renewal, and community investment. He has consistently worked to keep property tax increases as low as possible by focusing City spending on essential services, distinguishing needs from wants, identifying efficiencies within municipal operations, and promoting a disciplined approach to staffing and hiring. Mike believes taxpayers deserve a municipal government that delivers value while remaining accountable for every dollar it spends.

Mike has also championed investments in roads, sidewalks, parks, recreation facilities, and other core infrastructure that improve neighbourhoods and enhance residents’ quality of life. He believes strong communities are built through reliable infrastructure, safe public spaces, and accessible recreational opportunities for people of all ages.

Known for his accessibility and common-sense approach, Mike works closely with residents to understand their concerns and advocate for practical solutions. He believes municipal government is at its best when it focuses on delivering core services efficiently, spending responsibly, and making fiscally disciplined decisions that strengthen neighbourhoods today while planning for Hamilton’s future.
